The lake of Louvain-la-Neuve is a 7-hectare stretch of water that was developed in 1984 to serve as a storm water basin and fishing pond. A footpath has been laid out to walk around it.
This lake is mainly interesting for its flora and fauna. Its particular composition and layout have favoured the presence of an island and vegetation. Many species of birds stop over here to migrate. Various amphibians have also been observed here.
